ECG long distance
is a pre- subscribed long distance service. This basically means
that you agree to switch your long distance carrier to ECG long
distance. Switching to ECG long distance or any other long distance
provider involves a sign up process followed by a phone or email
verification confirming that you want to switch long distance carriers
with your local phone company.
The
rates that ECG long distance offers seem to be pretty good for
normal state to state long distance. The rates as of 9/5/07 are
2.5 c per minute if you opt for automatic credit card billing and
3.5 c per minute if you want to juts get a paper bill or pay your
bill online. However, In state long distance calls generally are
not charged at these low rates. This is a potential pitfall with
most long distance companies, including ECG long distance. In state
long distance rates vary from 2.9 c - 13 c per minute depending
on what state you live in. ECG does not seem to charge any monthly
fees nor do they seem to have any minimum usage requirements. However,
you have to switch long distance carriers to use them and in state
long distance rates will run higher than state to state long distance
rates. Also, don't forget state and federal taxes and USF surcharges
generally run between 15-20% in additional fees on top of your
long distance charges every month.
International
long distance rates are not very good with ECG long distance. You
would definitely do better to use a different long distance company
if you plan on making a lot of international long distance calls.
You can save as much as 50-80% with various other long distance
plans that give you great state to state, in state and international
long distance rates. ECG long distance is a good choice if you
just need to make a lot of state to state long distance calls.
But, other wise, especially if you need to make international long
distance calls take look at companies like At&t, Tel3Ld and
MCI. Make sure and compare these different long distance plans
to ECG long distance and you will end up saving a ton of money
on your long distance calls.
